We want all festival goers to be prepared to have a fermentin' good time on Saturday.
Read on for important information, tips and survival tricks.
What to Bring
This event is on a farm, ya'll, so please come prepared. Close toed shoes, layers, and sun protection are a must! Keep an eye on the little ones. There will plenty to sip and savor in the festival - if you want to bring your own reusable cup, please do so! Seating and shade will also be in abundance, but feel free to bring a blanket to sprawl out in the avocado orchard. If you're planning to load up on ferments, best to bring a cooler so you can keep those purchases cool all day long. We'll offer bags to the first 500 guests and most vendors will have ice as well.
No Pets/Animals Allowed
The farm does not allow animal visitors, so please leave your felines, fidos and such at home.
Parking is available at 4 different church and school parking lots along Fairview Avenue. Look for Event Parking signage to direct you. Please do not park on Stow Canyon or Via Fiore adjacent to the farm [you'll notice the abundance of "no parking" signs] - your car WILL be towed. There is plenty of parking for all, but we do encourage festival goers to consider carpooling and/or riding their bike - bike racks will be available thanks to the Santa Barbara Bicycle Coalition.
If you already purchased tickets, bring your paper ticket or your mobile device to show proof of purchase at will call. Forgot your paper ticket or not so hot with technology? Don't worry, we'll have you on our guest list - just check in at will call. Folks who need to purchase tickets day of will have the opportunity to pay with cash or credit - but we recommend you not wait, you'll pay more at the door! We'll have an ATM on site for all your cash needs.
How to Plan Your Day
Before you arrive, check out our stage schedules online and make sure you don't miss out on the talks and demos you are most looking forward to. Arrive early for the hands-on demos to snag a spot [space is limited] and make sure you are ready to get your hands full of bacteria! The hands on demos are community driven, so be ready to share in the art of fermentation with your neighbor!
Sama Sama Kitchen and Nimita's Cuisine will be serving up lunch items for the masses - they will be located near the festival entrance and ready to serve you amazing Indonesian and Indian-inspired ferment-centric dishes such as tempeh tacos, pork bao, samosas w/ chutney, dosa, mango lassi, and more!
Screamin' Pickle Contest
Have an entry for the Screamin' Pickle Contest? Make sure to drop off your vegetable, fruit and/or non-alcoholic ferment at the SPC area by 12:30pm. Winners will be announced from the Whole Foods Market Fermentation Station at 1:45pm.
Don't forget to stop by the Raffle Booth next to the festival entrance for a peek at our more than 50 amazing items. Tickets are only $1 and all proceeds go to support Fairview Gardens!
Farm-to-Bar Happy Hour
The Farm-to-Bar Happy Hour will be inside the festival and setup between 3pm and 4pm. Attendees will be admitted promptly at 4pm.
If you purchased a farm-to-bar happy hour ticket, your ID will be checked at the main festival entrance ticket booth upon entry - please be ready with a state or government issued ID.
Only adults 21+ will be allowed entry to the Farm-to-Bar Happy Hour. If you didn't sign your kiddos up for the Kids Program, they cannot be on the farm after 4pm. Please make arrangements as necessary. Kids will not be admitted to the program on site - advance purchase tickets required.
Our friends at Uber will be on hand to drive folks home who need a safe lift. We encourage all of our attendees to ensure they have a safe ride home after the festivities.
